Miami Depends on MetroConnect

MetroConnect is Miami-Dade County’s free, on-demand shared ride service. It's designed to fill gaps where fixed-route transportation does not exist or cannot efficiently cover.

  • Nearly 1,000,000 MetroConnect rides have been served since 2020, with 72% connecting to the larger transit network.
  • 60% of riders report that they would have difficulty getting to work, interviews, or job training without MetroConnect
  • 50% of riders report less than $50,000 annual household income; 81% do not have access to a vehicle of their own; and 32% are senior citizens or live with a disability.

What's Happening

More than 1 million residents in Miami-Dade County are about to lose lifeline transit access due to the planned elimination of MetroConnect in the FY 2025-26 budget; 600,000 of them do not have access to other forms of high-quality transit.
